Shaky + Confident = Courage || light & letter pt. 8
& the C.S. Lewis quote that upended my writing
You have a creative voice—one unique in pitch and perspective. Whether you believe it or not, your voice is needed here. Your experiences serve a purpose. The stories you’ve lived are seeds that have planted inside you throughout your life.
It’s time you let them bloom.
This is my eighth installment (only two more left!) of my creative series for paid subscribers. These go out every Monday. You can find the first seven posts in this series linked here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
In order to identify what your creative voice is, you have to first own who you are.
This isn’t a “one and done” process. You know this. But the work can start with acknowledging this truth: you are a unique person. This isn’t some cheesy line from a kid’s movie, this is a life-changing truth. Accepting it is the root of being able to create from a place of authenticity.
This week’s goals:
to help you identify your unique creative style (voice).
to equip you to confidently use it.
God has orchestrated your life. Your personality. Your past history. The relationships you’ve known. The joy and the suffering you’ve walked through. He’s woven it all together to form a singular narrative that cannot be copied or imitated. It can only be told by you.
In summary, you are made up of unique experiences. Those experiences have given you a unique perspective. This perspective is a gift to fuel what you create. How will you use it?
