Last month, I started something new: sending out posts once a week for paid subscribers on the topic of pursuing creativity.

I’ve showed up every Monday to give out my own personal methods (ones that have also been proven to work with others) for incorporating writing and photography into my everyday life.

These practices have not only been a good form of self-discipline for me, but they’ve also helped tune me into gratitude for the life God has given me.

For my sixth installment of this series, I want to take a step back and invite you to do the same.

You can find the first five posts in this series linked, here, here, here, here and here.

This past weekend was a busy one for our family. We were barely home and when we were, there was work to be done. Our hot water lines sprang a leak (a frustratingly common occurrence in this old house), the house needed cleaning, I discovered a rather large old hospital bill from last year I thought we paid.

I’ve been showing up on Instagram to talk about the new Little Mermaid and on TikTok to talk about Tolkien. I’ve written over 10,000 words in the last 6 weeks.

Not only that, I also took Billie for one of our walks in a park we frequent multiple times a week and she was bit by some insect which resulted in her face swelling above one of her eyes. None of the vets we take her to had availability to see her today, but I’m keeping a close watch on her, following their instructions for care at home and I’m taking her in first thing in the morning.

Additionally, I’m working through all of these things while being the primary caregiver of two children and dealing with a flare up of PMDD which is currently giving me buckets of fatigue and will continue to give me worse symptoms until my period goes away in the next few days.

I’m exhausted. And that’s ok.

Maybe you can relate. In fact, I’m sure you could list off similar situations and circumstances that you’re unexpectedly navigating. Maybe you’re tired too. So what do you do when life happens but you still want to pursue creativity? Let’s talk about it.
