Congratulations! It is a momentous step and a challenging process that will end in joy. IN 1972 we bought a wooden house thrown together in WW2 in a clearing in the woods in Surrey UK. We lived there and improved it over the years but it remained a large shed. In 2007 it was demolished and after a tumultuous 2 years we moved in in 2009. I wish you an excellent builder and a smooth path. Ours was neither though we were able to live in our much loved and recently passed mother's house a few miles away. We also bought a collie puppy to give us something else to think about, and to make us laugh! Blessings and good luck.

And the name of the house in the woods - Rivendell!

I suffer from a chronic debilitating back injury as well as chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I don’t know your illnesses but I appreciate you so much more knowing how much you do in the Tolkien world and how beautifully you have written this as well as other things. I’m so sorry you suffer and I will pray for you during the move and pray the building goes faster than hoped for so you can finally be home. πŸ™

I am so happy for you and yours! What an incredible and arduous journey. Having a home eventually is still a far off dream for my family but to hear of someone achieving that is so inspiring. Congrats!

Congratulations, & best of luck! We, too, love our land, but our house, not so much. We are in the process of packing up our stuff, storing it in our garage, & living in an RV closer to town until we can tear down the old house, & build a new one. We have lived in this house for 35 years, & are really looking forward to one without so much wrong! Praying that your family & mine navigate the turmoil with grace, patience, & perseverance! God bless you!

Congratulations and many blessings and prayers to you for this time of joy but also transition and new discoveries!! I can relate (and have in the past related) to many of the feelings of insecurity and sadness you shared that are associated with your living situation, when home should be a place of comfort and safety from the world. I’m so, so excited for you and am celebrating with you! I hope this new home is a place for peace and happiness for you all! And I can’t wait to see the new Tolkien office!!! :)

Oh Breanne!!!!! I have been following you for quite some years now and my heart just swells with delight for you and your family. What a precious thing to be able to stay at your place, but have a home there that will serve you well. Oh my!!! God is so very good. It is amazing when we get to see His goodness in the land of the living.
