Hey there, I’m Breanne. I used to only write about being a wife and mother in other corners of the internet, but life shifted and a year ago, The Redemptive came into existence.
This place is where I share less about being a wife and mom and more about being a woman in her 30s seeking the redemption of God wherever He weaves it into my life. It might be in a Muppet movie or a well made taco or a walk in Wendell Berry country with my dog while I talk about Tolkien. It might be in wrestling with chronic illness or healing from generational trauma or the need to quote Dan in Real life constantly.
This is where I’ve found the courage to write about it all and my hope is to invite you to do the same.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Song for your read: Motifs in F# Major - Reimagined.
I bought a $12 lamp for my office this week.
It’s 6:55 am and still dark out but I’m typing away in the small circle of light I brought home last Tuesday. As winter looms closer, I needed a gentle way to defy the lack of sun; the blaring overhead light in this room wasn’t cutting it. I need something softer, nearer.
Sometimes women ask me questions along the lines of, “What prompted you to start writing? When did you know you should start a public blog/Instagram/Substack? How did you know you were called to do it?”
My answer might not be the one you’re hoping for.
